Today, representatives of Belarus, the United States of America, and the European Union discussed Belarus at a trilateral meeting. At the Representation of European Union Mission to the United States, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya welcomed EU Ambassador to the United States Stavros Lambrinidis, as well as ambassadors and heads of missions of all EU countries.
Ms. Tsikhanouskaya gave a welcome address, talking about the crackdowns in the offices and homes of journalists and activists, 35,000 people who had been detained in Belarus, and 577 political prisoners. “Despite the terrible repressions, – emphasized Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya – Belarusians have already for almost a year defended their choice made on August 9, 2020”.
The Belarusian leader told the interlocutors about the publication, “Workers' Movement”, dozens of initiatives that help the repressed and protest movement. While answering the ambassadors' questions, she called on them to seek ways to help the people of Belarus and support the position that the independence and sovereignty of Belarus were of the utmost value to the Belarusian people.
