Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “The regime's policies do not only affect us. They target our children, too”

“Parents from Belarus complain about the education system in our country. Kindergartens, schools, and universities no longer belong to children; propaganda uses them for its own purposes. Ideologists try to get into children's heads, targeting even the youngest minds. And they do not strive to teach children anything important. What they want is to instill love for the army, war, violence, and Lukashenka's personality.

But our children should have a real childhood. The kind where they run after each other while playing outside, not in military lessons. Where they only see guns in computer games, not because the police visited their school to demonstrate machine guns and pistols. Where in kindergartens they sculpt plasticine or draw, not carry dolls on stretchers imitating military action. Where in schools our children learn in math or literature classes instead of watching propaganda videos”.
