    February 08, 2023

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya arrived in Poland at the invitation of the Speaker of the Polish Senate.

Today Ms. Tsikhanouskaya addressed the Polish Senate. In her speech, she urged Poland to be stay resolute and stand up for Belarus' independence. She also urged senators to include Belarus in their election agendas during the campaign in Poland. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya stressed that Belarusians need to hear about the European perspective as Belarusians have always been and should be a part of the European family.

The Senate adopted a resolution in support of independent Belarus. This resolution was supported by both incumbent and opposition parties. Poland has a consensus on the Belarusian issue.

United Transitional Cabinet representatives Aliaksandr Azarau and Pavel Latushka attended the plenary session along with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a separate meeting with the Senate Speaker, as well his deputies, to discuss the tribunal for Lukashenka. She underscored the significance of keeping the Belarusian issue on the agenda, even as it receives less coverage against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, and holding Lukashenka accountable. Lukashenka and his entourage must know they are fully responsible for their crimes.
