Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “You do not have to be a politician or an expert to understand that the introduction of troops is always an armed intervention in the affairs of another state. The people of Belarus would never speak out in favor of sending troops to suppress the will of the people of Kazakhstan.
After all, every Belarusian supports the decision to resist the dictatorship. Every Belarusian understands that the illegitimate dictator Lukashenka has no right to make decisions on the deployment of troops and sacrifice Belarusians for the sake of an armed window-dressing of regional stability. Every Belarusian opposes actions that threaten the sovereignty of Belarus.
Only the people of Kazakhstan have the right to decide the future of their country and defend their choice. Street protests are natural, and in authoritarian regimes, they are one of the few accessible ways of expressing civic will. I hope the protesters and the authorities of Kazakhstan will find a way to start a dialogue and resolve the situation, avoiding new victims”.
