  • Belarusian students may continue their studies in Czechia, thanks to the local diaspora

    July 27, 2022

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s Office continues supporting Belarusian students in partnership with the Belarusian diaspora in the Czech Republic. Official representatives of the Belarusian minority Krystsina Shyianok and Alena Tsikhanovich, together with the Association of Belarusian Students in the Czech Republic (Bělaruské studentstvo ČR), have been meeting with the management of Czech universities, which have so-called “critical majors” that Belarusian students are now restricted to study.

They have already met with the rectors of ČVUT and VŠCHT, Czechia’s largest technical and chemical universities. At the meetings, they agreed that the universities will accept letters of guarantee signed by representatives of the national minority.

To receive such a letter, students are verified to not be employed in the security services and not to intend to work for the benefit of Lukashenka or Putin's regimes. Press releases on the websites of the ČVUT and VŠCHT universities in Prague confirm the agreements reached.

Belarusians may apply for verification and a letter of guarantee at [email protected] or via Bělaruské studentstvo ČR social networks: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Students are verified through the Belarusian democratic organizations, including BYPOL. Each case is considered individually, with a number of factors taken into account.
