  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for June 17

    June 18, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.

Here is an overview of the Movement on June 17.

    Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians

    • Belarusians have created a manual for women who have suffered from violence during war, occupation, or in prison.
    • Aquarium band leader Boris Grebenshikov put a vest up for auction. The funds will go to support detained Belarusians from the band Irdorath.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Pavel Latushka, the Coordination Council and other representatives of democratic forces sent a joint letter to EU leaders. The leaders of democratic forces called for supporting the EU candidacies of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, as well as for reflecting in the final document of the EU Council the European prospect for Belarus after democratic changes.
    • In a year of work of the eHealth.by platform more than 12 500 patients and 140 doctors have joined it. At the moment we have 64 different specialties represented, the list of which is constantly expanding.
    • Valery Kavaleuski, Tsikhanouskaya’s representative on foreign affairs, reported from Kyiv, where he is working on solving key problems: the frozen bank accounts of Belarusians, the inability to renew residence permits and Lukashenka's responsibility for this war.

    Resistance

    • Belarusians of Vaukavysk held a picket against the regime.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 16.
    • Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 17: propagandists happily talk about occupied Mariupol, where Russians are destroying traces of everything Ukrainian.
    • BYPOL continues to tell about the deeply rotten system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Lukashenka regime. On the example of one of the typical representatives, they demonstrate the degree of moral decay and intellectual degradation of the country's law enforcement system.

    Awareness campaign

    • Radio Svaboda has released the second season of its podcast with Dr. Uladzimir Martau, one of the most famous fighters against COVID and against lies of officials.
    • US President Joe Biden spoke in an interview about Belarus and the war in Ukraine: “You saw what Putin is doing in Belarus. If we allow him to act, he will not stop, chaos threatens all of Europe.”
