  • The soldier of Kalinouski regiment: “Posts of hatred towards Belarusians are work for the enemy’s benefit”. Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for June 29

    June 30, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.

Here is an overview of the Movement on June 29.

    Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians

    • Belarusians and Ukrainians held a rally in Krakow in support of Azovstal defenders.
    • The BYSOL Foundation sent protection and equipment kits for the air reconnaissance team of Belarusian volunteers who are trained as part of the Prague Support Team initiative.
    • Belarusians in Latvia held a picket in front of the Russian embassy against bombing of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus.
    • In Ukrainian city Khmelnytskyi, Pushkin Street was renamed after Aliaksei Skoblia, a Belarusian volunteer with the nom de guerre “Tur”, who served in the Kastus Kalinouski regiment and died in the battles near Kyiv.
    • The initiative group Support Ukrainian Women, which includes GIRLS POWER BELARUS, BYSOL, #BMSF and the community of Belarusian female activists, transferred part of the money from the fundraising to the Ukrainian organization Community Self-Help. And they, with the support of #Fondation_Aid, delivered medication to the Buchansk Center of Primary Health Care.
    • Prague Support Team sent to the regiment Pahonia an urgent package of medical materials, including decompression needles, medical scissors, high-quality Czech HemCon Chito Gauze hemostatics, burn compresses and others.
    • Members of the Scottish Parliament played football with the team of the Belarusian diaspora of Great Britain. The match was held in support of all political prisoners in Belarus.
    • “It is not over yet, but it is already a big step forward”. Belarusian activist and human rights activist Anisiya Kazlyuk had her documents accepted for an extension of her legitimate stay in Ukraine.

    Resistance

    • In Chyzhouka Minsk region a pedophile hunts children, but the police are busy with other things – shooting teenagers in Cascade Residential Complex. Chyzhouka residents came out to picket to tell about this and warn children.
    • “Don't be silent about the war”. Minsk residents held a demonstration at the monument to Taras Shauchenka in Minsk.
    • Belarusians of Barauliany came out to picket against the regime.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 28.
    • Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 28: when propaganda and politicians ran out of arguments justifying the need to start a “military operation”, older and time-tested narratives about “Slavic brotherhood” and brotherly peoples went into action.

    Awareness campaign

    • Verkhovna Rada deputy Serhiy Sobolev and vice-rector of Kharkiv University Yuriy Barabash answered the most topical questions in Anatoli Liabedzka's anti-war stream.
    • The soldier of Kalinouski regiment addressed the Ukrainians: “The volunteers will leave and our guys will not get night vision devices. The Russians will come at night and slaughter like blind kittens. Posts of hatred towards Belarusians are work for the enemy’s benefit”.
    • The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Belarus presented her annual report: “The country has plunged into an atmosphere of impunity and fear”.
