  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on Russian military’s atrocities in Ukraine

    April 03, 2022

“Seeing the horrible photos and videos from Irpen and Bucha, I cannot imagine how this is possible in the 21st century. I cannot imagine such inhumanity. Russian soldiers shot civilians whose hands were tied and just left them lying in the middle of the road. And the Lukashenka regime made Belarus an accomplice to these war crimes. Many of those killed in the streets of Ukrainian cities were murdered by Russian troops from Belarus' territory and with Lukashenka's consent.

The body of Tatiana Demennikova, head of the Mykolaiv regional ethnic and cultural society of Belarusians Holas Radzimy, was found under the rubble of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, where she worked in the economic department. Her relatives identified her body. Ms. Demennikova loved Belarus and made every effort to promote friendship between Ukrainians and Belarusians.

We liked to believe that we and our children would never have to live through the horrors of World War II, but the war has come — and it is impossible to just stay away. Our common mission is to put an end to this horror and collect all evidence of war crimes so that they are not left unpunished”.
