  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya shared a list of initiatives that help political prisoners and their families

    November 08, 2022

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “In October, the “courts” in Belarus passed a total of 425 years of imprisonment in the so-called protest cases. All these years, the regime took away from free Belarusians in just one month, and this figure keeps growing every day. So does the number of political prisoners held in inhumane conditions. So does the number of people detained on trumped-up charges.

The regime uses terror in attempts to break not only the people it tortures in prison, but also the relatives, friends and neighbors of political prisoners. It wants to intimidate all of us. But instead of remaining obediently silent again, Belarusians solidarize to support each other.

People released from prison have shared how letters and parcels help keep hope alive there. How receiving a money transfer from a stranger helps stay strong and know that you are remembered outside the prison walls.

I want to say thank you to every Belarusian who has not given up over these two years and keeps supporting political prisoners, sending letters to the penal colonies, helping relatives of our prisoners to pack parcels, and donating to foundations. I admire your strength and your ability to remain human even in such a difficult time. Please don't stop. Our heroes need to know that we are proud of them and are waiting for their release. And we will be doing everything to make sure every Belarusian is free.

I would like to once again share with you the pages of initiatives that support political prisoners and their families: A Country to Live in Foundation, Dissidentby.com, Politzek.me, BYSOL Foundation, Freedom Postcards, They share all the essential tips. And don't forget about the initiatives письмо.бел and Solidarity Postcards Atelier, You can use them to send a letter or a postcard to our prisoners”.
