  • Germany will provide a mobile hospital to Belarusian doctors in Ukraine at the request of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya

    March 07, 2022

On March 7, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya spoke about the situation in Belarus and the Anti-War Movement that started in the country after the military invasion of Ukraine. The majority of Belarusians oppose the war, and the situation among the military is no different, Tsikhanouskaya explained. She noted that Belarusians continue to resist the regime and spoke about the sabotage on the railways, the work of volunteers, doctors, cyberpartisans, and the ByPol initiative.

The national leader of Belarus re-emphasized that no one should confuse the regime and the Belarusian people. “People should not suffer for the actions of Lukashenka, who is dragging the country into war and pushing it to the brink. It is the illegitimate and illegal regime that must be punished. Belarusians have been fighting against him for a year and a half”, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya added, stressing the need to continue granting visas to the regime’s victims and supporting Belarusian refugees.

Ms. Tsikhanouskaya and Minister Baerbock separately discussed the situation on the border. Ms. Tsikhanouskaya emphasized that the country is, in fact, under occupation, with Russian troops occupying part of the territory and using it to invade Ukraine. They paid particular attention to assisting Belarusian volunteers who support Ukraine. At the request of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Germany will provide a mobile hospital for the work of Belarusian doctors who will be treating the wounded. It will be coordinated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Belarusian Medical Solidarity Foundation. The mobile hospital will be delivered to Ukraine soon.
