  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for April 28

    Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus’ regime.

    Here is an overview of the Movement on April 28. 

    Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians  

    • Razam, a Belarusian diaspora association in Germany, purchased a trailer for the volunteers at the Ukrainian-Polish border. It has four beds, a shower, and a kitchen, allowing volunteers to rest after their shifts.
    • The Center for Belarusian Solidarity Crisis Center in Poland operates a hotline for evacuees from Ukraine and Belarus in need of shelter. The hotline is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The number is +48 604 111 288. Details in Russian here.
    • The Zvyano Public Association, Belarusian Medical Solidarity Foundation, and Supolka Association of Belarusians in Italy announced a fundraiser to purchase 20 VAC machines with consumables. They will be donated to four Ukrainian hospitals in Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, as well as a military unit. You can support the fundraiser – read more.
    • The BYSOL Foundation sent another vehicle to Ukraine for the Pirogov First Volunteer Mobile Hospital, which provides medical care on the frontline of the war in Ukraine.
    • In Brno, Czechia, Masaryk University students from Belarus and Russia recorded a video address condemning Russia's attack on Ukraine.
    • The DAR and Dapamoga initiatives sent gear and equipment for the Belarus Kalinouski battalion volunteers.
    • Following the visit of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office delegation, the Council of Europe adopted a resolution putting a definitive end to relations with the regime and ushering cooperation with the Belarusian civil society and democratic forces. This is an unprecedented decision, which shapes an opportunity for systematic work with the Council of Europe.
    • Belarusian artists painted drawings in support of Ukraine.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun monitoring project released an operational summary on the movements of Russian troops on April 28. The project's sources reported fighter jet flights, alleged missile launches, and more – to help Ukrainians prepare for strikes.
    • Hajun also reviewed the regime's propaganda. The new narrative is about Poland's plans to reclaim its “historical territories” in Western Ukraine.

    Resistance

    • Belarusians of Minsk painted anti-war messages and adorned the city with ribbons in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Residents of a district in Minsk painted Belarus' patriotic mottos and used white-red-white ribbons.

    Awareness campaign

    • The ByProsvet initiative released new issues of underground press outlets. Belarusians distribute them as leaflets and newspapers to counter state propaganda.
