  • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met with the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė

    January 29, 2021

This is not their first meeting but the first working contact since Šimonytė took office. Outcomes:

    • Discussed political prisoners. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said that now there are 219 prisoners of conscience in Belarus, and all of them should be released without any conditions.

    • Discussed Lukashenka’s All Belarusian People's Assembly. This meeting is illegitimate and does not represent the interests of Belarusians.

    • Discussed the nationwide vaccination of Belarusians – with the help of which organizations it is possible to deliver the vaccine to the country.

    • Discussed sanctions, assistance for relocators and civil society in Belarus.

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: “We have full support and understanding from Lithuania. Ingrida took part in pickets for Belarus and now helps Belarusians as Prime Minister. She assured us that Lithuania would support Belarus until our victory”.

After the meeting, Ingrida Šimonytė stated that “Lukashenka's regime has long turned into an opposition for the people of the country”.
