  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for April 23

    April 24, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus’ regime. Read the Manifest

Here is an overview of the Movement on April 23.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun project has observed no fighter flights or missile launches from Belarus on April 23. Still, the project keeps monitoring the movements of Russian troops in our country.
    • Also, the Hajun project reviewed the Belarusian propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for the day. Propagandists in Belarus were concerned about the removal of Soviet monuments in Ukraine and promoted the idea that Zelenskyy is not an independent politician.

    Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians

    • The Belarus Kalinouski Battalion reported on the arrival of new equipment. The Battalion's vehicle fleet now has three more pickup trucks from Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office, two off-roaders from the British diaspora, and an off-roader from the Belarusian Workers' Union.
    • Belarusians of Sweden and the People's Embassy of Belarus in Sweden sent a vehicle with humanitarian aid and equipment for the Kalinouski battalion. The vehicle is already in Warsaw and will soon be in Ukraine.
    • Belarusian women gathered at the Center for Belarusian Solidarity to weave camouflage netting for Belarusian volunteers of the Kalinouski battalion.
    • Belarusian artist StreetWind painted anti-war graffiti in Warsaw in support of Ukrainians.
    • Belarusians of London held a rally to support Ukraine.

    Resistance

    • Partisans in Minsk painted national flags and anti-war slogans and distributed leaflets and stickers across the city to protest against the war and express solidarity with Ukrainians.
    • Partisans of Kastsiukouka, a town in the Homiel Region, held a picket, calling the war in Ukraine an act of barbarism.

    Awareness campaign

    • The Belarusski Vestnik underground press outlet's new issue tells about the major problems in the Belarusian economy caused by Lukashenka's actions and the prospects for those who fight for Russia. Belarusians distribute underground press across their cities to share honest information about the situation in Belarus and Ukraine.
    • The Honest People initiative released anti-war Easter cards for Belarusians to send to relatives of the older generation, who generally have limited access to free and independent information.
