  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for April 6

    April 07, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus’ regime. Read the Manifest

Here is an overview of the Movement on April 6.

    Sabotage

    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya urged the international community to demand that Russian troops are fully withdrawn from Belarus. “This is non-negotiable. Russian troops just shouldn't be on the territory of our country and neither on the territory of Ukraine. After the pictures we saw from Bucha, I hope I do not need to explain why”, Ms. Tsikhanouskaya said.
    • The UK former Prime Minister Gordon Brown supported the prospect of bringing a larger circle of perpetrators to responsibility for war crimes in Ukraine. Prior to that, the National Anti-Crisis Management sent him a letter within the 'Putin’s puppet, Aliaksandr Lukashenka, must be punished' campaign. Investigators will examine the submitted evidence of the Lukashenka regime's complicity and consider the possibility of bringing charges against persons beyond the military leadership of Russia. The Prosecution Service will be taking the final decision on this issue.
    • The Hajun project, which monitors the movement of Russian troops in Belarus, released an operational summary of the military activity as of April 6.
    • Anton Motolko, leader of the Hajun project, gave an interview to RFE/RL Belarusian service. He claimed the project receives over a thousand reports on troop movements daily. 90% is not published for security reasons.

    Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians

    • The BYSOL Foundation released an update on visas for Belarusians and available options to receive them. The Foundation told about Polish, Lithuanian, Italian, German, Hungarian, and other visas.
    • The Center for Belarusian Solidarity (CBS) reported that Belarusians who had submitted their passports to the Polish consulates in Lviv, Kyiv, or Vinnytsia before the war can now get their passports in the Polish consulate in Lviv. CBS has raised this issue at the meetings with the Polish Interior Ministry working group on Belarusians.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office answered the frequently asked questions from the Office's chatbot: Can the Office start issuing passports? How to address discrimination against Belarusians? How can a Belarusian leave the country after a police raid at their house?
    • Belarusians in London took part in a rally in support of Ukraine.
