Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met in Davos with Teresa Hutson, the Vice President of Microsoft’s Technology and Corporate Responsibility Group who oversees the company’s Democracy Forward Program. The Program has provided assistance and software to several Belarusian media outlets and journalists.
They discussed:
– free subscriptions to Microsoft products for independent media (Teams, MS Office);
– security and anti-censorship tools, including access to cloud services;
– cooperation with Microsoft’s ElectionGuard project;
– legal support and consulting for the Belarusian media.
Microsoft supports and will continue to support the Belarusian language on its platforms, and Belarusian citizens will have access to Microsoft services.
The Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has already established working contacts with Google, TikTok, Meta, and Microsoft. This cooperation allows for blocking propaganda channels, removing forced confession videos, and recovering accounts of destroyed media and arrested journalists. Work is underway on promoting the Belarusian language on social platforms.
