  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for May 25

    Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.  

    Here is an overview of the Movement on May 25. 

    Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians    

    • On May 28, a benefit concert in support of Ukraine will be held in Warsaw. The proceeds will be donated to the ŻYVI Foundation, which helps refugees and sends humanitarian aid to Ukraine. 
    • Belarusians of Bydgoszcz, Poland, displayed Belarus' national flag in support of political prisoners.
    • On May 28, Belarusians of Warsaw will gather at the Belarus Solidarity Center to weave camouflage netting for military volunteers in Ukraine.
    • Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Representative for the Constitutional Reform and Parliamentary Cooperation Anatoli Liabedzka held meetings in the Swedish Parliament, Belarus' People's Embassy and with representatives of NGOs. He spoke about the security architecture of the new Belarus, support for political prisoners, and assistance to Belarus.
    • The Support Woman action group sent the first batch of medications to Ukraine for women affected by abuse and violence. 
    • Residents of Bialystok, Poland, held a rally of solidarity with politically imprisoned Poles in Belarus.
    • Belarusians joined a rally in support of Ukraine in London.
    • Belarusians donated tourniquets and bandages to the territorial defense in Lviv.

    Resistance

    • Belarusians painted an anti-war message in Minsk.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun project, which monitors the movements of Russian troops in Belarus, released an operational summary for the day. 
    • Hajun reviewed the regime's propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for May 20. Propagandists continue elaborating upon Poland's territorial claims to Ukraine. 

    Awareness campaign

    •  “We must not be lost.” Nobel laureate Sviatlana Aleksievich talked about the national idea of Belarus and the need to further develop it.
    • Political analyst Valer Karbalevich commented on Lukashenka's visit to Putin and Russia's recent calls for negotiations. 
    • “Their mission is to intimidate all Belarusians.” Lawyer Mikhail Kiryliuk spoke about the amendments to the death penalty legislation in Belarus.
    • Andrej Stryzhak, head of the BYSOL Foundation, gave an interview to a Ukrainian TV channel on Belarus' role in the war and Belarusians' support for Ukrainians.
