  • 103 countries, including Russia, the United States and Poland. Results of the Day of Solidarity with Belarus

    Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's Office, together with the diaspora and other initiatives, summed up the Day of Solidarity with Belarus. It was joined by more than 12,000 people from 103 countries from around the world. The top supporting countries are Russia, the United States, Poland, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The most unexpected marks on the solidarity map are from Nicaragua, Bahrain, Vietnam.

    Solidarity rallies with Belarus were held in more than 80 cities globally. City buildings were illuminated in white-red-white colors. The national Belarusian flag was raised above the editorial offices of famous newspapers. Angela Merkel, members of the European Parliament and the European Commission, the governments of Sweden, Britain, USA, Canada, Lithuania, and other countries joined the events. The politicians took part in the actions of the Belarusian diasporas and also organized them themselves. Belarus did not go off the agenda of countries literally on all continents of the world except Antarctica.

    On February 6, the Conference of Solidarity with Belarus organized by Belarusians Abroad was held. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya opened the event with a welcoming speech. The addresses of Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide were shown. The Vice-President of the European Parliament Nicola Beer, representatives of the European Parliament, politicians, and journalists delivered welcoming remarks.

    Speakers of the roundtable discussion “How can the world help Belarus?” became Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission Katariná Mathernová, Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip T. Reeker, Member of the European Parliament Viola von Cramon, Head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka, Advisor of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya Franak Viačorka. OSCE PA Secretary General Roberto Montella also joined the discussion.
