Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya: «On 27th of May, there are 426 political prisoners in Belarus. Conditions in Belarusian prisons are approaching medieval. Innocent people are subjected to moral and physical violence, torture, exhaustion of sleep, outdoor exercise and food. We’ve all seen the video of Vitold Ashurok’s death – and it leaves little doubt that it was a violent death.
We are fighting for all politically motivated prisoners to be released and rehabilitated. But prisoners of conscience and their families need help – and right now. The least we can do to help in these circumstances is to support the families of political prisoners and provide them with food, by maning parcels.
How can I send a parcel to political prisoners online?
Volunteers of the foundation «Country to live in» carry every week programs to our heroes. Last month they delivered more than 2.5 tons of parcels. Now they made a service that lets you directly on the site help to collect these products and form a parcel online – paying for it. Volunteers will collect and deliver supplies to the recipients.
Go to the website of the Foundation «Country to live in» and choose the set you want to transmit:
- «Stationery» – with envelopes and sheets of paper to help write letters and draw.
- «Vitamins» – with fresh fruits and vegetables, which are very scarce to prisoners.
- «Food» – with a set of foods for healthy food.
You can choose between monthly or one-time assistance. The most important thing is to support those who are in prison by supporting us all.
And on 29th of May, the day of Sergey Tsikhanousky’s detention, the Global Picket of Solidarity with Belarus will take place all over the world – and I appeal to Belarusians inside the country to support each other in all possible ways: letters, donations and street actions».
