  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for June 4

    June 05, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.

Here is an overview of the Movement on June 4.

    Support for Belarusians and Ukrainians

    • Belarusian singer Max Korzh released a track about the war in Ukraine.
    • Belarusian military volunteers of the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment received awards from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Directorate of Intelligence.
    • The BYSOL Foundation recapped its assistance to Ukrainians for 100 days of war. It has raised more than 524 thousand euros, and already donated 375 thousand.
    • Belarusians of the UK donated a vehicle to the Kastus Kalinouski Regiment.

    Resistance

    • Partisans of Homiel held an anti-war picket.
    • Minsk residents picketed to support political prisoner Viachaslau Maleichuk, who was sentenced to 22 years in prison for allegedly preparing a “terrorist attack”.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun monitoring project tracked the movements of Russian troops in Belarus for June 3.
    • Hajun also reviewed the state propaganda coverage of the war in Ukraine for June 4. Belarusian propagandists tried to restore the image of Lukashenka’s independence after he provided Belarus’ territory to Russia.

    Awareness campaign

    • The International Committee for Investigation of Torture in Belarus (ICIT) continues gathering information on torture in Belarus in August 2020. The Committee compiled a timeline based on interviews with victims.
    • The Chestnaja Gazeta new issue tells the stories of political prisoners, features their letters that broke through censorship, and talks about the regime’s propaganda and Russia's prospects. Belarusians distribute underground media to counter the regime’s propaganda.
