Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs explained that Latvia’s suspension of tourist visas issuance to Belarus citizens is a necessary measure. At the same time, humanitarian visas, as well as visas for the politically repressed, as well as family reunification visas, will still be issued, while holders of humanitarian visas will be able to obtain residence permits in Latvia. Restrictions should also not affect organizations that relocate to Latvia.
The minister invited Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to visit Riga and meet with the government to tackle all the outstanding issues.
