  • Results of the Belarusian Anti-War Movement for May 13

    May 14, 2022

Any Belarusian can join the Movement and choose from numerous options to resist the war and Belarus' regime.

Here is an overview of the Movement on May 13.

    Support for Ukrainians and Belarusians

    • Belarusians of the Prague Support Team in Czechia started making armor plates for the Ukrainian military and Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine. The Belarusian Legion, which helps volunteers, notes that these armor plates offer the best protection available in Europe.
    • Czech universities will continue the admission of Belarusian students and prevent discrimination based on national origin. Following a meeting, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Czech Minister for Education Petr Gazdik made a joint statement, saying the Education Ministry fully supports the endeavors of Belarusian civil society and will continue to assist the repressed students and researchers by providing scholarships and residence permits for study or internships.
    • Belarusian volunteers of the Kastus Kalinouski battalion received a pickup truck donated by Belarusians of Sweden. The truck arrived with a batch of aid, including vitamins, sports nutrition, Swedish canned food, etc.
    • The Dissidentby initiative launched a platform to help political prisoners find jobs, as most employers are unwilling to hire them in view of the risks of persecution.
    • This Saturday at 19:00 in Warsaw's Beer Station Centrum Club (Lwowska, 17) Botanic Project will hold a concert in support of Ukraine and donate a part of the proceeds to the volunteers of the Kastus Kalinouski battalion.

    Sabotage

    • The Hajun project, which monitors the movements of Russian troops in Belarus, released an operational summary of the military equipment movements and reviewed the regime’s propaganda claims about how the war affects Europe.

    Resistance

    • Belarusians in Vawkavysk protested against the “Russian world”, which has brought death and destruction to Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Mariupol, Gostomel, Odesa, Irpen, Bucha, and other cities in Ukraine.
    • Residents of Minsk honored the memory of Kanstantsin Dziubayla, a Belarusian volunteer who was killed in Ukraine.

    Awareness campaign

    • The new issue of the Chestnaja Gazeta underground press outlet tells about Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Remembrance Day address, explains how to write letters to political prisoners in Belarus, covers the sentiment in the Belarusian army, and more. Belarusians distribute underground media to counter state propaganda.
